Following its participation in Scottish Enterprise Grampian's "Global Company Development Programme", Aberdeen-based LEAding Edge Advantage (LEA) has announced its plans to open a branch office in Malaysia .
The venture follows on from the success of LEA's first overseas offices in Perth , Western Australia , which opened in 2004 and already accounts for over 20% of the company's annual revenue.
The independent well engineering consultancy specialises in well delivery through the application of advanced drilling techniques.

"Our experience and success in Australia have demonstrated the importance of a local presence which allows us to demonstrate our capability to clients.
Currently about 65% of LEA's business is international. Colin Donald, director of Finance and Competitive Business for SE Grampian said: "This is an excellent example of globalisation by a small, growing company that is in the forefront of its field. The opportunities for success in the global arena are tremendous for companies who take the time and effort to research new markets and implement a well thought-out strategy."
The new branch office in Kuala Lumpur , which has been set up in conjunction with Oil and Gas Management Sdn Bhd (OGM), will provide a base for LEA to secure and service contracts in Malaysia where they are already one of five preferred contractors for Petronas Research and Science Services (PRSS), a division of the Petronas group.
