OIL & GAS LEARNING JOURNEY TO KAZAKHSTAN

Atyrau

21-27 May 2006

Scottish Development International Learning Journeys provide companies, who are new to markets, with the opportunity to access a wide range of experts in all aspects of doing business - learn from Scottish companies or organisations already set up there, gain first-hand experience of market conditions and meet potential customers.

Over the last couple of years there has been a steady increase in companies looking at Kazakhstan, given it’s new prominence in the global oil & gas market. With the world’s 4th largest oilfield, Kashagan already onstream in its experimental phase and full field development due in 2007, SDI are running a Learning Journey to Atyrau between Sunday 21 May and Sarurday 27 May 2006.

In Kazakhstan, the Kazakh government has instituted regulations requiring companies to have local content and tenders must meet local content policy. Companies tendering for work have an advantage if they have a local partner.

SDI have enroled the assistance of AGIP, the consortium leaders for the Kashagan project, through their Vendor Support Centre for foreign companies looking for JV partners.

SDI will also be organising a travel package for the visit.

A provisional programme and application form are attached.

For further information and an assessment of the opportunities for UK companies in Kazakhstan, contact Tony Bundock at the Kazakhstan Oil & Gas Interest Group on kogiguk@eic-uk.com or 0207 221 2043.
